Nuances of our Recent Life
Life as we know it has been changing pretty rapidly and pretty drastically in the past few months and the culprit of it all has been COVID-19. Every day used to be filled with interaction and conversation, and the state of the current world has slowed that down heavily, and for a time being had completely put a stop on it. However, it's important to keep in mind that nothing is forever, and this current state we are living in, definitely won't be. Eventually, we will get to spend time with our friends, take trips with our families, and feel the warmth of the people we love again. But for the time being, when sometimes some of these things are lacking, it's important to do what we can do distract us from all that's going on around us. Not only has COVID-19 affected our lives socially, but it's made a drastic impact on our academic lives as well, as we no longer go to Uni every day, and no longer see our classmates in the halls every day. Missing that interaction, looking at a screen for several hours a day, thinking about our futures, and still having to focus on our presents can take a toll on us. It is also important to remember, however, that Quarantine has definitely not been all negative. It's giving a lot of people time for self-reflection and self-betterment. Personally, being stuck at home gave me the time I needed to start improving parts of my life I felt I needed to, and even helped me take on new hobbies. But even with that, the takeaway that such a change has left a prominent mark on our lives is undeniable. This makes it all the more important to make sure we can throw in little things into our day to distract us. To do a few things that make us not think about that assignment we have due next week, that quiz on Friday, or that project due at the end of Quarter, even if it's for a few moments, can go a long way in prolonging and increasing our mental health. The one small thing we can do every day to achieve this is simply to leave our academic headspace and enter an empty one. Over the coming days, I'll share what I've been doing to help achieve this. Thank you!
