Trying out other OST's - Danbi's "Little Things to Stay Sane"

Danbi's OST Blog, called "Little Things to Stay Sane" touched on a topic similar to my own. It spoke of a few things that everyone can do to get through the stress that schoolwork makes people feel. Reading her blog was especially helpful because as I was, I was nearing the end of my own First Quarter, and saw a mountain of work ahead of me. Throughout the week that followed, I tried several of the tips Danbi gave, and they actually did a lot to help my mental health. One thing that Danbi mentions is that when we are under a lot of stress from school, the environment we put ourselves in is usually a stressful one. Changing the environment you're in to be more peaceful and relaxing can affect how you are feeling as well. Danbi did this by having some snacks nearby, lighting a candle, and playing some relaxing music. I did all three of these things, and they worked amazingly. They brought me a sense of comfort, that helped me complete my work in better quality as well a...

One Small Thing at a Time - Part 2

In my last post, I spoke of how Quarantine has given the free time to spend time with other people. However, things like that, even in Quarantine, are hard for several people to do. Yes, Quarantine has given many of us more free time than we normally would have, but for some of it isn't enough to talk to friends for a few hours, watch games together, or play games together. Some people only have 15-30 minutes where they can take a break from their work, whether it be in the middle of the day or at the end of the day. Since school has started again, I've had several days exactly like that, so these are some of the things during those breaks to take my mind away from my work.  One thing I like to do when I take short breaks from anything is to make some food for myself. Many people like to grab a snack, whether it be during our designated lunch-time from 12:30 to 1:15, or any other break we take from our daily lives. When I take a break, I don't like to think about whatever i...

One Small Thing at a Time

At this point in time, we are roughly 8 months deep into living in a largely virtual and quarantined world. In recent months, some people have started to go outside again, and spend time with their friends again, but it isn't entirely the same as it used to be. For all the time we are spending at home right now, what everyone needs sometimes is an escape from the whirlwind that is their life around them. These things don't have to major, but a few small things for a short while every day do add up and they do make a difference. These are some of the things I've been doing over my Quarantine. Firstly, I try to call or video chat with at least one friend every day. It sounds pretty simple, but as you'll see everything I've been doing has been simple. Friends are often the people you can go to to escape talk about academics and work and talk about other parts of your life. You also don't have to only talk to your friends but can do activities with them over call to...

Nuances of our Recent Life

Life as we know it has been changing pretty rapidly and pretty drastically in the past few months and the culprit of it all has been COVID-19. Every day used to be filled with interaction and conversation, and the state of the current world has slowed that down heavily, and for a time being had completely put a stop on it. However, it's important to keep in mind that nothing is forever, and this current state we are living in, definitely won't be. Eventually, we will get to spend time with our friends, take trips with our families, and feel the warmth of the people we love again. But for the time being, when sometimes some of these things are lacking, it's important to do what we can do distract us from all that's going on around us. Not only has COVID-19 affected our lives socially, but it's made a drastic impact on our academic lives as well, as we no longer go to Uni every day, and no longer see our classmates in the halls every day. Missing that interaction, loo...
